DIY Facial - Quick & Dirty and #zerowaste

I LOVE raw cacao and all the nutrients that it contains, but sometimes it?s okay to try something different in order to eat a balanced diet;) Carob powder is perfect for that, if you still want the chocolaty flavour, texture and colour in your green smoothie (or other recipes). Carob flour/powder is made from the pods of the carob tree (bælg fra Johannesbrødtræet). The taste is a bit different from cacao, bear that in mind when you taste it for the first time, or you will be disappointed.

Carob vs. cacao:
Carob doesn?t contain any caffeine or theobromine which is good, if you are sensitive to those stimulants. Theobromine is the ingredient that makes chocolate toxic to dogs. Carob doesn?t have the same nutrient value as cacao, which really is a SUPER food with it’s high contents of minerals and vitamins. It does have a lower amount of fat and three times the amount of calcium compared to cacao. Other than that, you should only do the switch in order to taste something different and add more variety to your diet. Carob has a more subtle chocolate flavour.
