HOW-TO SURVIVE AN 8HOUR FLIGHT – 7 MUST-HAVES TO BRING ON A PLANE

When you are flying to New York and meeting up with your fashion blogger/model friend (Julie) at Soho House, you do not wan to arrive looking like crap. Easier said than done, after an 8 hour flight from Copenhagen, which meant that I’d been up at 5.30. In order for me NOT to arrive looking like a tired mess with dry, grey-ish skin and hair like a bird’s nest, I have a list of things I bring on every flight. These can be useful for shorter flights as well, especially if you’re traveling for work and have to go straight from the airport to a meeting.
This is HOW-TO survive an 8 hour flight, and arrive looking your best:) Two key words! Hydration and rest… Personally I’m not able to sleep on a plane, but I do know how to rest and make myself comfortable on a plane.
MUST-HAVES ON A PLANE
Especially for longer flights
-
Water
Dry air on airplanes leaves my skin and my body feeling totally dry, to combat that, you need to start from the inside. I usually bring my own water bottle and fill it at the airport #zerowaste #stayhydrated. On longer flights I would bring 2 bottles!
TIP: Make sure the bottle is empty when going through security, and maybe make them aware of it, so that they don’t have to double check your bag;) -
Oil for the skin
Hydration from the inside and out isn’t always enough. I always bring a multi purpose oil, with a nice smell on my flights. Just add oil to your face, hands or hair, and enjoy the nice smell as well. My favourite right now is an organic Rose Serum from Less is More.
TIP: make sure it’s in a small bottle that can pass security. -
Headphones
Music, podcasts, movies or just to cancel out all the background noise. My greatest investment before flying to New York, was noise-cancelling headphones, they worked like magic! I bought my Beoplay H8 at the airport, and never have I been more comfortable at a plane #bliss -
Brush
You don?t want your hair looking like a bird?s nest when arriving, I always bring my brush. -
Sleeping mask
This is key if you want to rest/sleep on the plane. Complete darkness and a tender pressure on your eyelids, need I say more? My sleeping mask has lavender in it as well for relaxation. -
Pillow
Yes I’m that girl who brings her pillow when traveling! Might look like a child, but it did get me through the “fast track” at security, because they thought I was traveling really far;) And it’s super comfortable! -
Lipstick (and concealer):
Upon arrival, go straight to the restroom to freshen up (you will be waiting for your bags to arrive anyways, so no rush)! Brush your hair, add some concealer to remove the dark circles AND the cherry on top, LIPSTICK. You will walk out of that restroom a new person,
TIP: If traveling without luggage, this can of course be done on the plane before landing;)
Before I went, I got a Primary Pumpkin Peel at skin clinic Skønvirke. It combines active natural ingredients with a low pH value (3.5) to peel of the top layer of the skin on my face. I didn’t feel much when I had it done, and you just leave the mask on for it to work it’s magic. My skin felt raw the day after, so I had to take extra good care of it on the plane. It took a few days, but now it’s looking really smooth, healthy with a nice and even skin tone.
Besides that, I always bring my iPad, iPod and some books/magazine so that I don’t loose my mind with boredom. Happy traveling and greetings from New York:) #simplyfit
